[Husker] Callahan

True, it is very speculative at this point, but let's say for the sake
of argument that NU does not win a game the rest of the year (which is
quite possible). Judging by the reaction Callahan has gotten so far at
4-4, in addition to his prior record, I would say keeping him around
after a 4-8 season when there was so much promise at the start would be
akin to career suicide for even a man as well respected as Osborne. I am
sure TO is quite qualified to make decisions such as this, but he is
also a human being who is very receptive to the people of Nebraska, and
Callahan at 4-8 would get lambasted like never before. If you think he
and his family have it rough now, imagine 4 more blow outs added to
that.

If this team does not win again this year (and continues to lose by
20-30 points each week) there is absolutely no way Osborne keeps
Callahan, I would bet my life savings on it.

Of course, I would also bet that Callahan's dismissal would be handled
much better than Solich's.

And of course TO knows all the uncertainty is killing the recruiting
class, but I am quite sure he has a solution to that as well.

He's auditioning for his next employer, whether that be Tom Osborne or
somebody else. That is true of every coach, for every game, on every
team.

Tom Osborne has categorically stated that the coaches will be
evaluated at the end of the season, not before. Anyone who is claiming
that Callahan's fate is already sealed is basically calling TO a liar.
