I think so.

going to be just that, your head football coach, do you allow what
could be the top couple recruits of his tenure just walk out the door?
Am I wrong in thinking thats the "nail in the coffin" on Callahan?
I think so. For one, nobody has walked "out the door". Nobody is "in
the door" yet, since all commitments at this point are non-binding (on
both parties, by the way. NU is as free to pull a scholarship offer as
a recruit is free to cancel a verbal).
Even in stable coaching situations, recruits change their minds. If
Tom's main priority is keeping this recruiting class, then he should
come out and stay Callahan is not going to be fired. Then our
24-member recruiting class can breathe a sigh of relief and
approximately 4 million Husker fans can groan in dismay.
I think the recruiting uneasiness is a RESULT of people thinking
Callahan's gone, not the REASON people think Callahan is gone.
> Also on recruits.....I dont think its a huge deal to lose them. If we do have a new head coach, are we certain those recruits, as good as they are, would fit into that coach's system?
You are right about that. A new coach and/or staff is going to want to
do their own evaluations and try to recruit the players they fill fits
their system the best. It's not unthinkable that a new coach would
pull some scholarship offers to the current class based on their own
analysis differing from Callahan's. (I would hope this does not happen
on a large scale, however. A school does not want the reputation of
pulling offers a lot.)

wouldnt lose, but >with a new coach and staff in place, we'll gain a
few we didnt think we'd get.
I think that's very possible.
> Again on that, I have no problem with them leaving if we do have a new coaching staff coming in. Putting myself in their place, I'd say 90% or higher that recruits sign with coach's not with the schools.
They shouldn't, but they do.
>If they are coming to Nebraska cause of the current staff and that
staff isnt here when they get to campus how happy would they be?
They would probably actually be pretty happy, although most aren't
mature or wise enough to realize that right now.
