I can remember many times that Osborne would go for 2 with the game well in hand.  He always would justify it as practicing for later in the season.  I can also remember the same excuse for passing late in the game.  

I don't see it as payback at all.  I see it as good coaching.  If the other team can't stop it,  that's their problem.

On the other hand, when Miami attempted the run up the score against the Huskers, when they were already leading 23-3 with time running out in the 1989 Orange Bowl....that was uncalled for.   Jimmy Johnson was just looking for votes. 

I look forward to the day when, as Husker fans, we return to having to justify, rather than complain about, running up the score.
