marvin sanders is not part of the UNC coaching staff. he stayed on for about 2 weeks after butch davis took over but was then released. i believe it was a multi-year asst. coach contract so unless he took a buy-out he would collect salary until he found another job and as far as i remember he hasnt took another coaching job yet.
so he's free to go mid-year. :)
though unc recruiting and line play has pick-up under the watch of john blake, boy do we miss him?

Pelini is under contract to LSU for the season, possibly longer than that.
Given that they're very much in the hunt for a BCS Bowl and possibly even
the National Championship game, what do you think the odds are that they'd
let Bo out of his contract mid-season? Moreover, I don't see Bo as
anyone's DC next year, not even LSU's.
Craig Bohl is at ND State (which thumped Minnesota yesterday), a school that
is in the hunt for the 1AA championship.
Turner Gill is under contract at Buffalo. His team didn't do so well
yesterday, but they're still tied for 1st in the MAC East, something
that would have been unthinkable this late in the season 3-4 years ago.
Marvin Sanders is under contract to North Carolina and having an OK
but not spectacular season as DC there. They're ranked 50 in defensive
scoring, 42 in overall defense, which admittedly is better than Nebraska,
but not that much better. How many time have we heard that excited
cry, "We're #42"?
Which of those schools are going to feel sorry for Nebraska and let
someone out of his contract in mid-season, especially if that hurts
their own team's chances this season?
