[Husker] positives to take away from today's game

I apologize for not reading the rest of the posts in this thread before
adding my own. (I'm in a different time zone.) However, I hope that
one of the outcomes of the Pederson experience is that fans become more
reasonable in their expectations, without changing their hopes that NU
wins the Big 12 North, the Big 12 Championship, and the BCS
Championship every year. And, I hope that fans learn that even when
things are not going as well as their hopes would have it, that there
is a great risk in letting one's hopes override wiser expectations.
So, maybe losing big to Colorado and then losing in the BCS
Championship game is thought to be a very good season and finishing the
year at 9-3 followed by a bowl win is a pretty good year. Sure, after
both of those years, you want the coaches to ask how the team can win
all of its games and to take steps to get it done, but you don't
abandon success for what is unreasonable to expect. How frequently
will we have to change coaches if winning 75% of games isn't good
enough?

This extends to players as well. I can't tell you how many times
that players now in the NFL were criticized for being too slow or
not looking back for the ball or not being as good as another player
several years back. I think it's the case with Lucky this year, and
I'm guilty of it myself, that he's criticized for his weaker aspects
than credited for his skills.

Of course, I don't expect people who would chant about the father
of a player in a high school game to recognize that we need to
learn and improve as fans, just as players and coaches learn and
improve, but I have that hope --- at least for all of the highly
intelligent people who post here ;-).
