I agree Osborne is saying all the things that make me believe he is not out
to axe Callahan. I think it is in Callahan's court. Osborne left the door
open saying stuff like - I will be involved with the coaching staff as much as
the staff wants. If they want me to meet - I will meet, if they want me at
practices, I will be at practices if they want me to stay away - I will stay
away. I understand he was at practice the other day and they have met. If I
am Callahan and want to stay at Nebraska - I would glue myself to TO's hip
and ask him for all the help he can give and then implement what he says to
the best of my ability and then thank him publicly for the supprt!!! I wonder
how much of the shutting out of the players and tradition was really Callahan
and how much was forced by Pederson or was it a request by Callahan that
Pederson enforced.
Callahan seems to want the ex-players around and wants to allow the
traditions to continue.

It sounds like Tom isn't anxious to replace the Head Coach. In his
statements he said he knows how things can snowball and how hard it is to be
in the coaching seat.
It sounds like Tom would like to make at least Callahan's job secure by
helping turn around some of the things that need fixing and making him
successful.
If this is the case, the job is Callahan's as long as he wants it.
He demonstrates he wants it by:
Learning from the Tom Osborne school of personnel management rather than the
Steve Pederson school.
By listening to advice and not insisting on being the smartest guy in the
room.
The BAD news for Callahan supporters and the GOOD news for Callahan
detractors
I don't think he can do it (or possibly wants to do it). As in all things,
time will tell.
