[Husker] Misunderstood

Coach Callahan observed the other day that in his mind he is doing a
good job of coaching NU's football team. He seems frustrated that people
don't appreciate that.

I can relate. You see, I know in my own mind that I am a dead ringer for
Tom Selleck. My wife and all my friends profess not to see the
resemblance. They get hung up on his tall, athletic build, winning smile
and, of course, the dimples - not to mention all his movies and TV
series - none of which I have. They allow these little facts to get in
the way of the obvious. Yet, they overlook the most important fact: Tom
Selleck and I are very nearly the same age. See what I'm talking about?

Coach has the same problem. People look at the football team, and all
they see is a defense among the worst in Division IA, an offense that
can't run the ball and can't seem to score on anybody, confusion on the
field, missed assignments, stupid penalties - all that sort of trivial
stuff. They allow these stupid little fact thingies to cloud their
vision. Here again though, they overlook the most important fact: NU's
2008 recruiting class is ranked NUMBER SEVEN. That's number seven in the
whole darn country and tops in the mighty Big XII North.

If people would just focus on what matters, we could put all this
controversy behind us and keep that crusty old, ah, person from messing
with the program.

Well, I'm here to say, Brownie . . . I mean Cally, you're doing a heck
of a job.
