[Husker] What If?

Callahan, NFL...Callahan, NFL!

I agree, some of these kids may view Callahan as their ticket to the NFL.
But what happens if they bother to take a look at what he did while in the
NFL. He road a team to the Super Bowl. His team lost in the SB and went on
to a horrible season the next year which resulted in his firing.

A frantic, by then, Steve Pederson, lit on the opportunity to hire this
former NFL coach who coached in the SB without, in my opinion, taking time
to evaluate BC's ability to coach a major college team.

Motivation plays a key role in the success of college teams as has been
stated here many times. BC seemed to motivate a near mutiny at Oakland
following the SB appearance.

We will likely see how many 'contacts' he still has in the NFL when he looks
for his next job...presumably sooner than later. Or, maybe he will realize
just how great he isn't and try to live on the $$ he walks with from NU.

If Callahan is gone - you gotta figure most of the offensive high star guys
are gone too. I have to believe the 5 star QB was coming here to be with
Callahan. Has anyone seen interviews with any of these guys before this
all
transpired - saying why they liked Nebraska?

What happens if we lose the next few games badly. Our recruits start to
take
 visits
to other schools and de-commit to us. At some point TO will have to get
involved
before the end of the season. Our recruits are jumping ship...knowing that
BC & his staff
will most likely will be gone soon.

I sure would hate to wait until the end of the season to salavage what was
left of a good recruiting class.

Just my 2 cents.Michael J. SchultzSurf4evr at msn.com
