Jeff,
I haven't personally been inside the Osborne Complex yet, but when I
heard Steve Taylor's interview on the radio yesterday I knew exactly
what he was talking about. The items that he was referring to all used
to adorn the walls along the hallways under the South Stadium, before
the home locker room was relocated to the north end.
I worked for an engineering company in Lincoln that assisted with the
structural assessments of the stadium after part of Section 14 fell in
about 1992. So, I've been in a few places inside the stadium that the
general public isn't allowed to go. While the locker room itself was
cool to see as a life-long fan, the most interesting thing I saw was the
dirt "track" that lies beneath the East Stadium seats -- our first
indoor training facility, I guess?
The one thing that Taylor mentioned specifically was the season
schedules (I'd guess there were 20-30 of them) that listed the Huskers'
game-by-game results and final poll rankings. Each one was maybe 2 feet
wide and 3 feet tall? These plaques lined the hallway between the
Huskers' old locker room and the doors that were opened during the
Tunnel Walk. The famous horseshoe plaque the players still touch on
their way to the field was mounted directly above these doors. Other
hallways between the locker room and the trainer's room, whirlpool room,
etc. were lined with many other photos of former coaches and players.
Based on your descriptions, I don't know if any of these photos were
among those transferred to the north stadium or not.
GBR,
Dave

I am not sure what Steve Taylor is talking about.
All of the photos, awards, etc. still adorn the hallway in West Stadium
that connects the Osborne Complex to the Hewitt Center and training
table. So all of that is still there and in place.
In the West Stadium lobby, all of the display cases and the MNC trophies
are all still there as well.
In the Osborne Complex, the Football Player's Lounge is lined with
pictures of all the current Huskers playing in the NFL. It was actually
quite impressive to me to walk in and see the photos of all of the
former players that are NFL guys.
I have been in every area of the Osborne Complex and am there in general
quite often and I am not sure exactly what Steve Taylor was talking
about. At least to me it seems that most, if not all of that stuff is
still in place.
Jeffrey
