[Husker] Callahan

I would have to agree with your assessment. Pederson's exit was not a big
surprise; Tom Osborne walking back into the Husker fold was a little
surprising but not hard to believe and was very refreshing. Changes in the
Coaching department in the defensive coordinator area would not be
surprising but to see Callahan fired anytime soon would be very surprising.

What I want to see now is some soul searching in the Coaching and Players
because I think they gave up on themselves sometime after the beginning of
the season.

I am also tired of hearing that Northern programs can't attract quality
players anymore and that our state can't produce enough walk-ons to
compensate for the players we need to compete on the national level.

I find it almost offensive that we still live in a time that people actually
believe that there is nothing to offer in a campus, city, county and state
in the heartland.

I have been at many campuses and I know I am a little bit prejudice being
someone who grew up in Nebraska, but there are not any fans or supporters or
students like there are at Nebraska, especially UNL home of the Big Red.

I would be absolutely shocked if TO has made *any* decision regarding the
future of the current staff. I think he will use the remainder of the season
to evaluate Callahan and his staff and make a decision immediately after the
season ends. It's still possible that we will go to a bowl game so the
evaluation process may take a little longer.

I don't think TO makes snap decisions. Remember that, up to Saturday, he
never envisioned being in this position. I don't believe he really knows
Callahan and probably doesn't feel that he can make any judgement based
solely upon wins and losses. I'm sure he will want to know what Callahan has
in mind to correct the problems.

Just my $0.02......
