Here's a short summary of Chancellor Harvey Perlman's press conference:

1. Steve Pederson is out, having given his resignation when Perlman
asked for it today at 1:30 PM.

2. No other personnel actions within the Athletic Department, including
the football program, are being taken at this time. Oddly enough,
though, when someone asked him who was in charge of the Athletic
Department at the moment, his answer was to jokingly say, "Well, I
    sure hope someone is."

3. Pederson's settlement will be around $2.2 million plus some deferred
compensation. The settlement will come from the University of
Nebraska Foundation from funds designated for 'general athletic
    department use'.

4. Perlman said his decision was made on Thursday and he had mentioned
it to the President of the University before on Saturday morning.
The Board of Regents was notified of the pending action this morning.

5. He has not talked to Osborne about anything yet. (That means the
rumors about Osborne as interim AD or as football consultant are not
    true--yet.)

6. He will be hiring a search consultant to help find a new AD, but no
time line was given. It will be a national search but with no
constraints, such as looking for someone with a Nebraska connection.
