I'm not convinced that Callahan can make the necessary changes. He can
(and probably will) pitch some assistants over the side, but the fix
might require more than that. To my mind, the question comes down to
whether Callahan can coach (i.e., teach) well enough to be successful at
the college level. The team I watched yesterday looked fundamentally
unsound: they don't tackle well at all and the run blocking is
intermittent at best. I have the impression (with nothing solid to back
it up) that Callahan is more interested in teaching his system than he
is in teaching football.
And BTW, what assistants should we keep? My list would be pretty short,
and I could be talked out of any of them.
