I don't understand why people buy into the myth that Pederson is somehow
personally responsible for the success of the other programs at
Nebraska. What succesful programs can you credit to Pederson?
Volleyball and Baseball came into prominence under the previous athletic
director, and Pederson has made virtually no decisions on the staffing
for either program. As far as basketball is concerned, the jury is
still out on Doc Saddler. I'm not saying that he's not a good coach or
that he won't work out - we simply don't know how he will do long-term.
It's certainly not enough to say that the "basketball program is flying
high." Above all else, keep in mind that Pederson did nothing to
improve the program by bringing in Saddler until Barry Collier
voluntarily resigned his position to become the AD at Bulet.

The program with which he has had the most direct involvement with
(football), is in complete disarray. And as important as it is for the
other programs to be successful, the UNL athletic department would not
be profitable or even self-sufficient without the profit-generation
machine that is the NU football program. Nebraska is a "football
school", and we hopefully always will be.. Over the long haul, if the
football program is not succesful, the rest of the athletic department
will suffer.
