Then wouldn't it make sense to root (and mention it
here whenever we lose) for the HUNDREDS of assistant
coaches that have come and gone at NU over the past
several decades too?
Scott in NY
Sure it does. I don't have a favorite NFL team. If I
watch the NFL, I look for former Husker players and
root for them.
You mentioned Ohio and Buffalo, who are coached by
Solich and Gill. Two men who played and coached at
Nebraska and gave a majority of their adult life to
this school.
Bringing them up is just like any other debate that
takes place on this list. Like it or not, it is part
of the culture that SP created.
Bringing Solich up again is especially relevant now,
considering he was fired for "the way NU lost games"
and the teams that beat him. SP brought in someone
with little to no college experience, only two years
of NFL HC experience, and one of those years his team
fell apart.
Now NU is getting pasted regularly, at home and away.
By good teams and also-rans. Some of the worst losses
in the history of the program have come under the the
SP/BC regime.
I will say it again, I would rather be mediocre with
one of our own, someone who is a part of the tradition
at NU, then be mediocre with an outsider.
