This is not the NFL where the talent is spread around. In college ball the
NU's of the world are going to win 4 - 6 games even with poor coaching due
to their advantages. The remaining games should be split 50/50 if you have
an average college coach.
I would suggest that at NU, anything less than a break even season is a
complete failure and deserving of immediate dismissal. Back to back 6 or 7
win seasons merit dismissal. Eight wins is what is required for a big
program coach to keep his job, unless it ND where there really are
extenuating circumstances.
Break even can be acceptable in the NFL where there are no give me's and
every win is essentially beating someone your own size.
