[Husker] Fans Mood

If we weren't interested we wouldn't be so passionate
still.  The state of NE. is different from all others
because NE. football is the ONE thing we all rally
around and we demand and expect excellence.  We don't
have split alliances with other D1 teams or pro teams
in the state.  NE.  Basketball has long been accepted
for what it is and plods along without any real
expectations. Nebraska football means something to all
of us, or at least it used to mean something.  In the
past, even when we would lose, the other team knew
they were in a ball game.  I don't think we even leave
the other team sore on Sunday mornings anymore.

Excellence doesn't mean a national championship every
few years, but it does mean that we field a team each
week who is known nationwide as a force to be dealt
with.  41-6 losses to Missouri do not set well with
anyone.  We expect the 2nd string team to be able to
play Missouri better than that.

I'm not jumping off any bandwagon, I'm here for the
next 47 years just like I've been here for the last 47
years.  However, I will not acquiesce  and say it's
okay to trot out on the football field on Saturdays
and get destroyed by average teams, then tell everyone
that it's okay, they tried their best, lets give
everyone a medal for trying hard.  Jeez, is this what
we are settling for now?  Trying hard????
