Until he speaks up (a scenario which likely won't play out), nobody
knows the real reasons why he left (nor has anyone claimed to), but
there is nothing wrong with well-reasoned speculation. Personally, I
have never heard of someone leaving a job and publicly stating that
their "main goal" was to get back to the job they're vacating. In most
cases, that would not be an advisable statement to make right before
moving to your new job.

The reality is that any resignations from the athletic department at
this time are going to come under heavy scrutiny. If he had released
nothing more than a benign resignation statement, I *still* would think
something suspicious is going on in the athletic department. Is that
because I'm "seeing what I want to see" or "predeciding what this person
must be thinking", as you put it? Perhaps. But it's pretty damn hard
for me to write this off as "just another ho-hum" resignation with
everything that has gone on in the past few weeks. I'm not much for
"conspiracy theories" or "cracking secret codes", but after reading the
statements released by those two gentlemen, my gut feeling is that they
were no longer comfortable with the athletic department environment. Am
I wrong? Perhaps, but it's only my opinion. I never claimed it was
anything more than that.
