[Husker] I know I liked Pelini for a reason.

Here's a thought...I was never really on the Pelini bandwagon, simply because I knew his name wasn't big enough for SP to hire (at least that was my guess) and I figured Meyer would say yes. But, why not offer Pelini the DC job, with a "promise" to be the next head coach in a few seasons when Callahan leaves (or gets axed)? And before everyone says how silly that would be, I seem to remember his holiness, TO, insisting who his successor had to be, so there is precedent there (as far as a future replacement anyway).

In case it isn't obvious, I have certainly given up any hope for Cosgrove, and am pretty close to giving up on Callahan as well, but another system change (at least on offense) would mean another possible 3-4 years of struggle.

I will NEVER give up on the program itself, or any of the players though.

His name is Major Applewhite and we all remember him as a player...heart, mind, soul, and guts of a winner hands down. It appears he is bringing that to coaching as well. However, he is already being talked about as the replacement for Franchione after he is fired.

There will be plenty of fine candidates when we GROCa. Hopefully whoever is doing the hiring will do a better job then.

My next preference would have been to hire Monte Kiffin as a "short-term coach" as Pelini matured. While Pelini eventually went on record as stating he wouldn't stay if not a head coach, he did say something early that suggested he would be a D-coach for Kiffin. But Kiffin withdrew his name when SP stated that Pelini would be given full consideration as head coach. Bo didn't feel he was given that consideraiton.

Unfortunately, Pelini will be a HC somewhere in two years (probably LSU) and Kiffin will be at or near retirement. I HOPE TG can turn things around quickly Even more so, I hope BC can turn things around, but I have no confidence that he can do so.
