Consider this perspective:

Taken at face value, he sounds foolish, but the fact is, there probably
aren't a lot of different things we could do with this defense.

We knew that our defense sucked going into this game, so the performance
by the defense isn't all that unexpected, is it? His 3-3-5 defense was the
same we used to destroy Mizzou in Lincoln last season if memory serves me.
Granted, we don't have Adam Carriker and Jay Moore this season, and if you
go back and watch the game, you'll see the DE's get sucked inside on fakes
instead of containing, so consider that the scheme wasn't bad.

The defense doesn't operate by itself, it has to rely on an offense for
ball controll and scoring. We didn't do that. You could say that the
problem with last weekend's game was that the offense was the cause of the
massive yardage by Mizzou. The defense performed right where they were
expected, which is awful. The offense vastly underperformed given their
expectations.

Given all that, I don't think Cos has much of a clue how to defend a
spread offense. How many more do we play?
