This also shows an issue with the coaching staff and that is the 
complete lack of player motivation. 

One of the duties of the coaching staff (typically the head coach) has 
to be getting players fired up for a game. And yes I did play 1 year of 
college football so I do know what I am talking about. 

This is true in the pros as well in college. Players need to motivate 
themselves but you also need some leaders (HC, AC, captains, SRs) who 
make certain thatthey come out of the blocks fired up. 

A coach does not need to be a wild man on the sidelines (TO and Tom 
Landry are 2 great examples) to be able to get the team ready to play.

As an old Bear fan, one thing that was often said about Mike Ditka was 
that even though the D runs the plays for Buddy Ryan (the DC), Ditka 
was the one who got them to play.
