in the old days, the attraction (for a recruit) was, since NU played a different style of football than all the "big" schools, NU was winning the competing battle for athletes, even given the disadvantages mentioned above.  Now that NU is playing "NFL"-style just like everyone else, they are competing with all the 'big' schools, who all have "NFL" coaches, and none of the disadvantages..  

I wonder if this is what the future of NU football is going to look like for some time, regardles of the staff.
