The offense definitely did not do well last night. Even if they ran 60
more plays, I don't see them coming close to eclipsing Missouri's mark
of 600 yards.

I have always said that you need to look at these things both ways.
There are always some games that Nebraska could have lost, but there are
usually games that Nebraska could have won. With a good team, these
near-wins and near-losses usually even out. Unfortunately, there is
absolutely no way in hell that Nebraska could have won the two games
they lost. They were absolutely dominated and outclassed in every facet
of the game. On the other hand, two of our wins (Ball State and @Wake
Forest) went down to the wire against mediocre competition. A win might
be a win in the W column, but anyone who took off the rose-colored
glasses and looked at those games objectively could see there was
trouble ahead for this team. After the Ball State game, I said that
this team would likely lose 3-4 more games, which would put them at 8-4
or 7-5 heading into the bowl game. At the time, I even said "that may
be generous." I think that 7-5 or 6-6 is a much more likely scenario at
this point. I arrived at that conclusion because I looked at the
'facts" of both games. So don't talk down to me as if I am wildly
throwing assertions out there with no backing.

I have no confidence that BC will get this turned around, and I'll go on
record as saying that I don't think he will ever be succesful at
Nebraska. And by "succesful", I mean putting us in position to contend
for a national championship every once in a while and contending for the
conference championship on a near-perenial basis. That is what he was
hired for, according to Mr. Pederson. I would love to eat my words and
be proven wrong, but I don't see it happening. At this point, I just
want to see this experiment ended.

As Bob Beach has said, that would be the easy part. The hard part is
determining who should be brought in. I'm not going to pretend I have
an answer for that, especially because it's the middle of the college
and NFL season and we don't really know who would be available at
season's end. I would be interested to hear what names would be
suggested by others.
