[Husker] Yikes

In your first example Martin, I noticed the same thing. And, I noticed how
Dillard ran to the pile again, while Daniel cut back and ran right behind
him for a touch. Worse than flag football.

"Would the boy I was yesterday, be proud of the man I am today?"

Okay, I did get my wish to a certain degree. Cosgrove did try something
different by playing man to man defense against their 5 wide out set for the
majority of the evening.

Problem is, they continued to do the same thing. Predictable in every sense
of the word.

I think two examples really make me wonder what is going on. I can not
really tell if is all coaching or all on the players but look at these two
examples and I think it is both.

1. Mizzou gets down to the 10 yard line before the end of the first half
and our defensive backs are playing 10 YARDS OFF THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE
STANDING ON THE GOAL LINE AT THE SNAP ????

2. On Mizzou's fake FG play RUUD IS IN FAKE PREVENT FORMATION but cant get
to the ball carrier until the 3 yard line and then he doesn't make a head on
tackle but a leg wrap up tackle and Rucker carries him 3 yards into the end
zone.

What ever happened to what I am used to: head on drive em back tackles by
our linebackers. Foreman, Farley, Alberts, Polk, just to name a few
examples who would ROUTINELY meet the ballcarrier in the hole and progress
stopped. Now we do not meet the guy in the hole but 2-3 yards behind the
line and tackle him sideways or low and they go forward for 4 more yards.

I watched LSU and Florida last night. Those linebackers on those teams seem
to tackle how I am used to with Huskers of days gone by.

One last thing, an apology: last year I was somewhat critical of Carriker
and Moore because I did not think they had the superstar years that I
thought they should have. I think I now know why, they had to stay at home
and close to the vest to cover for the other d-line and linebacker
deficiencies. Sorry, Adam and Jay. I take back my criticism because I see
this year what you had to overcome with your team mates.
