We're in agreement. Callahan is doing some good things, offensively. The
concern is Cosgrove, and as you say (and I think nearly everyone agrees)
ultimately that falls on the head coach.

If Cosgrove turns the defense around the point is moot. But if it continues
down the current path, I think Callahan has to get rid of his friend and
bring in the right guy. Otherwise, it will eventually be Callahan's head on
the block.

The other day I was recalling the image of Nebraska defenders flying over
the Florida State offensive line, putting tremendous pressure on Charlie
Ward. Good quarterbacks will always pick you apart given time. Pressure is
essential.

And just yesterday I watched an average NFL defense un-pile 3/4 of the team
after a tackle because everyone runs to the ball. I would think the former
NFL coach might take his friend aside and say something. I've been missing
that kind of effort with Nebraska this year. It could still happen. We could
see it against Missouri - an intense team effort that silences the crowd.
Unless Callahan gets in his buddy's ear and tells him to quit playing scared
and get after the opponent, I don't see it happening.
