[Husker] Buffs and 'Cats

Forced to listen to the webcast of the Husker game, I was able to
watch portions of the Buffs' win over the Sooners and some of the
'Cats victory over Horns on TV. Oddly, commercial breaks on both
media seemed not to coincide, so it was possible to follow both
reasonably well.
Apparently Dan Hawkins has managed to do in only two seasons at
Colorado what he did at Boise State: produce a team competitive at
the national level. Although Oklahoma did not bring its "A" game to
Boulder, it's "B" game is more than enough for most opponents, yet
the Buffs called the Sooners' swagger, raised it a toughnut, and
claimed the pot. While one game hardly makes it a season, this one
should be enough to create an attitude adjustment among Husker fans.
I thought K-State played well against Auburn about a month ago but
petered out with four or five minutes left. There was, however, no
petering out against Texas on Saturday, rather the opposite. Again
K-State dinged Colt McCoy (who may be getting gunshy of the 'Cats)
and just plain out-eagered them on both sides of the ball, all over
the field. Clearly Ron Prince fancies making them Kings of the
Plains, so the Husker faithful can be thankful this year's game takes
place in Lincoln.
