I find it rather sad and amusing that they miss the point by rather a wide
mark.  The article says:

"Pederson, however, was fired by Nebraska in October mostly because his
highest profile hire -- football coach Bill Callahan -- failed. Callahan
also was fired last week following a 5-7 season."

I tend to believe, though I'm going only on what I've read and not what I
know from talking with Pedey or Harvey Perleman, that the football season
may have been somewhat of the impetus for the firing, but there were a whole
host of problems, starting with the attitude and atmosphere at the Athletic
Department, that led to the firing.  I've had the impression that the
football collapse caused people to speak out which got Perleman's attention,
and when he investigated further, found the proverbial rats nest in there.

Am I seeing this correctly?  And given that, is Pitt willing to overlook
those problems and only accept the poor performance of Nebraska's football
team as why he was canned, let go, shown the door, kicked out, etc.. etc.
Yes, good luck to them, poor souls.
