Hi Folks,

I finally got around to reading _Diary_of_a_Husker_,
an autobiography written by David Kolowski.  David was
a walk-on player from 1998-2002 and eventually became
the #1 snapper for PAT's and field goals.

The book gives great insight into what it's really
like to be a football player at a major college.  I'm
really astounded by the commitment and patience
required to reach even a modicum of football success
at a place like Nebraska.  It's humbling to know how
much work these kids put in so that we fans can enjoy
our fall Saturdays.

David is honest about the fact that these kids aren't
angels -- there are references to hazing, drinking,
fighting, and even a bit of marijuana use.  David's
openness about his own thoughts and feelings is quite
admirable.  I would definitely recommend the book to
anyone who wants to get a better understanding of our
Huskers.
