Here is my take on the coaching search. If I had my choice, I would rank
the candidates in the following order:

 

1.       Bo Pelini

2.       Jim Grobe

3.       Turner Gill

 

If we could hire Pelini, we wouldn't need as an accomplished of a DC as
with the other coaches. I would then turn my attention to the offensive
coordinator and hire someone who would install a power running attack
with a drop back passing element. My choice for that - former Minnesota
Coach Glen Mason. He would be a great OC with a coach like Pelini as HC.
Glen's teams at Minnesota had some great offenses - they just couldn't
stop anyone from scoring. Those Minnesota teams would run it down your
throat and had at least one season where Barber III & Maroney (both now
NFL studs) ran for over 1200 yards each. I think his offense would be a
perfect fit in Lincoln and is a lot like what Solich has installed at
Ohio. 

 

So mark it down - I want Bo Pelini as HC with Glen Mason riding shotgun
as the OC. You probably couldn't get Glen to take an assistant's job,
but one can dream.
