I wonder if the Internet had existed in 1962 (when Tippy Dye snuck Bob
Devaney into Lincoln under an assumed name) if Bob would have been
outed and then turn down the offer.  

According to stories, he was spotted by Lincoln Journal Sports Editor
Don Bryant, but Bryant agreed to keep the story under his hat.  (Bryant was 
later hired as the Sports Information Director at Nebraska.)
