[Husker] More than wins and losses

Here are Tom's words picked up right after he spoke about what would happen if they won 4 or 3 or 2 or 1 more game after the team was 4-4.
"It isn't just a matter of wins and losses, it's how you do it. If you're competitive and you go 6-6, and maybe lose 2 or 3 more (from 4-4) by a field goal or a turnover that's one thing, but if you get blown out 2 or 3 times, that's a little different."
Just a little later he went on to say:
"Again it isn't all about winning and losing, believe me I understand that. If you lose a fairly large number of games by a significant margin, and you have reasonably good players which I think we have, then that means there may be some systemic issues, some underlying issues...nothing major, nothing significant in terms of people not treating people right. I think the players were generally treated well. I didn't think the coaches were incompetent or didn't know what they were doing, but there was something missing, evidently, as far as I was concerned."
My translation is that we were getting clobbered by teams not so much better than we were to justify the losing margin, and the coaches were to blame for that and they got fired for it.
