T.O. will be here a long time... I think from 2-4 years. I think NU is
"THE" most succesful program for consistency in the nation,...well at least
it was before the recent administration decided to trash every positive
record that we had. There is not that much rebuilding needed. We have
excellent recruits...fantastic facilities and fan support that rivals no
other in the country. If we hire the right staff the Huskers win the North
next year. We have a gutsy kid named Ganz at QB. We have a load at
tailback in Castille...we also have a bid red "N" on our helmets that still
opens doors to High School kid's living rooms. Parent will want their kids
to play for any program that is associated with Tom Osborne. Even if he is
an athletic director ameritas. No more snake oil salesmen like Pederson.
No more "I'm an offensive genius" Callahan. No more deception. What you
see is what you will get...A clean, powerful program that will always be a
winner...every year, period.

You certainly exude a lot of enthusiasm. I admire that and hope a lot of
points you make are right. I, as most on this list know (to some I am
constantly negative), am more of a let's see what we have here type
person. I still believe the one thing most people continue to miss is
that other teams have gotten much better and caught up to where NU is.
In my opinion the days of the 30 years of utter dominance are over and
not because NU has no talent or coaching. It is because other teams are
for real and Kansas for one is young. They are going to be at least as
good as they are this year next year. NU probably never will again be
head and shoulders above the Big 12 year after year the way OU and NU
made the Big 8 the big two and the six dwarfs. And, I don't think that
necessarily has anything to do with the Callahan era. Other teams
getting better are out of NU's control. I am not saying NU some years
won't be good. I think they will. I think you will see some top ten
finishes. I also think there will be some off years. I believe that is
just the nature of the college football world in which we live today.
As far as contending for the Big 12 North title in 2008 as much as I
think coaching was a problem with our defense I also believe there was
more wrong than coaching. You don't endure giving up the kind of point
totals we did this year strictly on coaching. You put the 1995 defense
out there with Wistrom, Tomich, and the Peter boys just to name four of
the 11 I don't care if Cosgrove IS the coach you will not see point
totals go up the way we did this year.
