I too found that question very interesting. How does that jibe with the
feelings folks have been expressing about Dr. Tom's opinion of the Solich
firing (not trying to argue good or bad here, only the opinion that's been
on this list about Dr. Tom not being happy with the Solich firing). Seems
with this statement that he would have more than understood.

        I, personally, don't

(not outstanding, like Dr. Tom said), recruiting that has been pretty strong
(player development has been suspect), facilities on par or better than
most, a rabid fan base (both a plus and a minus), and a conference that
seems to the world to be on the rise. I would think for the most part, a
guy who favors himself as a head coach would love a challenge like
Nebraska. Compare that with Michigan or LSU (we'll have to wait on that
one) or aTm or Arkansas. I don't see Nebraska any worse than Michigan or
LSU, and significantly better than either aTm or Arkansas. I think coaches
may not 'line up' but certainly will answer the phone if somebody calls.

And finally, my apologies to Dick Karre. He was right, I was wrong. I
wonder if the events of yesterday made some difference in the timing. But I
found it interesting the clear goals the coaches were given by Dr. Tom. 8-4
and we move forward with you; 6-5 maybe not. 5-6 and its 'don't let the
door hit you on the way out.'

Here's to a quick and fruitful coach search. Short and painless. The sun
also came up again this morning, but we'll have to take the weatherman's
word on that here in Omaha. We may not see it directly today.
