[Husker] (don't get your hopes up) Callahan asked to step down
according to Forbes

Nobody has "officially" said that, but the rumor that
Callahan was asked to resign has been running around
since the Oklahoma State game. (The rumor at the time
were that Steve Pederson, Callahan, and a few coaches
were going to be let go. SP was gone the next day,
but the coaching staff stayed intact.) I tend to
believe that it's probably true, as I detected a
definite shift in Callahan's comments and attitude,
becoming more defensive and more belligerent (IMHO).
There's no real evidence that either proves or
disproves this rumor (except that Callahan has said
that he wouldn't resign).
I'm assuming that rumor is the same source that Forbes
used...or perhaps Forbes was talking to Travis
Justice... (!)
