[Husker] Evaluating ADs and Coaches--listen to the little people?

I had an interesting visit with a man this weekend. It was in Morgantown,
West Virginia and he was a very well informed college football fan (there
was no game in Morgantown; WV played in Cincinnati). He viewed the firing of
Solich at NU and Willingham at ND as crazy and thought both programs were
now getting what they deserved. FWIW, I think he also had sympathy for
Pasqualoni [sp?] at Syracuse where the program is now in trouble. He also
knew something of Pederson's tenure at Pitt and that he had gone to NU,
though the AD's name did not come immediately to his mind and he did not
know that SP had earlier Nebr connections. He told me that the higher ups in
the administration at Pitt loved SP because he was able to get the building
projects funded and done. Evidently the rank and file were not very happy
with SP. Interesting parallel for me to hear.
I wonder if TO is now listening to grass roots people about stuff more (e.g.
listening to former players for Callaghan) because the grass roots people
could have provided an early warning and variant perspective on SP if anyone
had been tuned into this.
Just some food for thought.
