[personal] [Husker] This pretty much says it all

Bill:

This is where I consider recruiting services to be useful. I don't know
that NU has more defensive talent than LSU, but I bet it's a lot closer than
people think.

Bottom line on recruiting services:
On the individual player they can and will be wrong on many occasions. On a
group of 20 or so guys that suit up every Saturday, well they're not wrong
all the time. Recruiting rankings, to me anyway, are a great way to judge
how a coach develops talent. If Team A has 85 guys that average 3 stars and
Team B has 85 guys who averaged 1 star and Team B is better than Team A then
you pretty much know that Team B's coach is better at player development.
Again, on the individual level though, rankings don't mean that much.

I agree wholeheartedly that Cozgrove's failure is catastrophic. Not many
players on defense have gotten better over their stay here, save Grixby and
Potter.

In my opinion, players that have failed to get better or regressed:
Suh
Octavien (remember his first couple of games, WOW)
Green
Bowman
Andre Jones
Barry Turner
Carriker (Or at least I think he was used VERY poorly in his senior season,
too much gap control not enough attack)

That's just to name a few. I really believe this year's defense has talent,
just nobody to tell them what to do with it.
