Good observation Laura. And your right about the "or
two or three" National Championships also.
Down here in East TN. Phil Fulmer's 1998 National
Championship is losing it's punch. 10 years without a
National Championship, and without winning any
Conference Championships has placed Fulmer on thin
ice. A good Conference win gets him off the hot seat
for a game or two, but a bad loss puts his detractors
in the front row for local Newspapers, call in radio,
TV, etc......
I suspect it's much the same all throughout the land
now days. One National Championship doesn't entitle
the coach to a lifetime pass. After about 5 years the
luster is worn off.
I heard a funny statement yesterday while driving home
while listening to Knoxville's version of 1620 The
Zone. One of the hosts said it's widely known around
the SEC that Houston Nutt is leaving at the end of the
year to become Nebraska's next coach, Vanderbilt's
coach Johnson is heading to Texas A&M at the end of
the season. Both of these statements are news to me.
