There's a bit of revisionist history in the above. Osborne was widely
criticized on the List and elsewhere for many aspects of his coaching,
such as not being flexible enough in his playcalling when the game plan
was obviously not working. I can recall some times when Listers
complained
about his sticking with his choice for the starting QB throughout the
season, too.
Most of this occurred prior to his final 5 years as coach at Nebraska.
