It does seem that the issues that Callahan directly addressed are
lost in these condemnations. Yes, on the fundamental issue of wins
and losses (which contrary to SP's philosophy does matter), NU has
not been as successful as everyone would like. But that isn't really
the specific issue here. Many people, including some on this list,
have directly questioned whether or not Callahan's offense is too
complicated for QBs to learn. I will admit that I don't know enough
of the intricacies to know if that is true or not. Many people have
criticized the staff for not developing players well enough (a critique
which seems to have some general basis, but which is perhaps not true
of the QBs). What Callahan is saying is that the offense isn't too
complicated and that the QBs have learned it successfully. Whether or
not (which seems likely) Callahan is back, the consideration of these
questions merits more than derision. In fact, I think Callahan makes
some good points: that Taylor wasn't that highly recruited nor
seemingly talented enough for the NFL, but he had enough success at NU
to be Big 12 offensive player of the year. Keller's stats this year
were pretty good, especially for his first year starting with Callahan,
even if he hasn't had the year that everyone hoped. Ganz is a little
in the Taylor mold and has looked pretty good in much of his first two
games. So, derision about the W-L record aside (and ignoring for the
moment the burning question of whether or not Callahan is a Christian),
is this type of offense too difficult or have the QBs had enough
success to indicate that it isn't?

At least it would be discussing football instead of perceptions of
BC's demeanor and religion.
