All-American Football League info, Eric Crouch gets another mention.
I wish Nebraska would get onboard this venture. It would great for the fans
in Lincoln to see some former players suit up again.

Chris Leak is joining the Florida Team and it looks like Jackie Sherrill
made be signed as the head coach for the Alabama Team.

RE: AAFL Newsletter. November 12, 2007.
Finally: An answer to the question that we in the All American Football
League have been hearing in airports, workouts, press conferences, talk radio
shows and everywhere else Florida football fans gather:
"What about Chris Leak?"
He's now part of the AAFL.
For more, let's turn this part of the newsletter over to NFL Hall of Famer
Joe DeLamielleure.
"I first met Chris Leak when he was in high school. We both lived in
Charlotte, North Carolina. I got a call from Chris' coach who told me there was a
kid I had to see. Chris was in ninth grade and starting quarterback. I was
immediately impressed with how mature he was and what great decisions he made on
the field."
"Chris was the quarterback for three straight state champion teams. He never
lost a game in high school. Named Parade Magazine player of the year. You
can just imagine the numbers.
"Let's just say no one has touched them since. And won't for a long time.
Here's a great summary.

"At the University of Florida, he did the same: He won."
"We don't have to tell Gator fans this, but after starting at Florida for
three years, Chris led his Gators to a National Championship in January of this
year."
"He's a great, great quarterback who wins everywhere he plays."
"What else is there to say about an athlete?"
"Welcome aboard, Chris."
With that, Joe turned the phone over to another Chris Leak fan: Heisman
winner and South Carolina great George Rogers.
"Joe D. has been telling me all about the AAFL and I hope I can be a part of
it in South Carolina. I hear a lot of people talking about it. And when I
heard Chris Leak is going to play for you I knew that was a great decision.
I've been watching him play since high school. He's a great player and a great
person. He's a winner."
Thanks George.
And did I mention we're selling tickets in Florida?
Enough about Florida. Big news out of Arkansas this week. Our new team
president is the answer to the trivia question: "Who was the last University of
Arkansas player on the cover of Sports Illustrated before McFadden earlier this
year?"
Every Razorback knows the answer is Ron Calcagni.
Ron quarterbacked Arkansas (with a little help from coach Lou Holtz) to a
10-1 record in 1977 -- ending with a 31-6 upset of Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.
Since then he has been playing and coaching and he is eager to get his hands
on some of the local talent for Team Arkansas, including Clint Stoerner,
Anthony Brown (DE), Cedric Cobb (RB), Sacha Lancaster (LB/DL), Chrys Chukwuma
(RB), J.J. Jones (LB), Landon Trusty (TE) of UCA and K.D. Williams (LB) of
Henderson State University.
Lots of television activity in Arkansas. Here's a copy of our TV spot
featuring Clint Stoerner. _http://www.allamericanfootballleague.com/Arkansas/_

And here is a recent story from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette on Ron's new
job: _http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Sports/206798/_
(http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Sports/206798/)
Heisman winner Eric Crouch will be jetting into Little Rock this week to do
some television spots for the kickoff of our upcoming ticket campaign.
Lots of interest -- which is not surprising from one of America's great
football towns.
Over in Alabama, our blogs are going full speed. And rumors that Alabama
great Jackie Sherrill might coach our team there is getting the full attention
of all our prospective players. Here's part of Alabama great Reggie Myles
recent blog about Sherrill:

Update
Category: Sports.
Hey everyone! This past weekend's autograph session in Tuscaloosa (prior to
the LSU game) was a huge success, thanks to all of you that came out. We had
over a thousand people on hand to meet, take pictures with, and talk to about
the league. This takes place at the AAFL tent before every Alabama home
game. The tent is located on Bryant Drive, about 20 yards from the Corner Store.
I will continue to be there to meet fans and sign autographs so I strongly
encourage all of you to come out, see me and talk some Tide and AAFL football!
This week I am going to be on Talk of Champions, again that show can be
heard at _www.rollcrimsontide.com_ (http://www.rollcrimsontide.com/) . I am
continuing to lift weights three days a week and run daily. Also, here is a
little truth to the rumor mill...we are coming really close to naming Jackie
Sherrill head coach of the Alabama team. I am very excited about the opportunity
to play for coach Sherrill. He recruited me coming out of high school when he
was still at Mississippi State and he coached my brother there. Coach
Sherrill played at Alabama under Bear Bryant and helped lead the school to two
national titles, so obviously he has strong Alabama ties and I really cannot wait
to play for him. You all have a great week!
Some folks outside of Alabama might forget that Jackie Sherrill was one of
the greatest running backs ever to play for Coach Bear Bryant. Inside Alabama,
they don't forget stuff like that.
Sherrill says he wants to go back to Legion Field in Birmingham for no other
reason than he left two teeth there in 1963. Stay tuned for more
developments from this great American character.
Lots more blogs from Travis McGriff, Eric Crouch and other AAFL stars at

More later.
