He was actually fairly successful in the NFL, just ran out of town because
he didn't win the Superbowl fast enough (see Marty Shottenheimer).

FYI, there was a guy named Bill Walsh that was pretty good at both levels.
Jimmy Johnson as well.

I just found out not long ago that one of Bill Parcel's first coaching jobs
was as an assistant coach at Hastings College (my alma mater)
