Could you ? Possibly. It would end up in court. When Skippy was fired
from UW for the bball pool, there was a lawsuit. They tried to fire him
for cause. I do not remember who won what.

But the bigger point (IMHO) is that would be a very unethical thing to
do. I am not a fan of BC and want him gone. I never wanted him hired.
But to manufacture a situation to get rid of him to not pay a buyout
that NU (stupidly) signed would be a huge mistake.

Like it or not SP had the authority to sign the contract extension and
it was signed. NU is obligated to pay the buyout andy should.

>My point wasn't that he would stay as coach. He's too stubborn to
>take directions from anyone. My point was that if he DIDN'T take
>those directions from his boss, isn't he being "fired for cause".
I
>understand that firing him because of a win/loss record is grounds
>for him to get the rest of his contract bought out. But aren't
there
>cases where we can fire a coach without having to pay him his
salary
>for 5 years? For example, what if he had committed NCAA
violations?
>Can we fire him then without sending him out with millions in his
>pocket?

>Rod W.
>Sioux City, Ia.
