FW: [personal] [Husker] this Joe likes Joe

You can read anything you want into what I write but it doesn't make you
less wrong about what I meant. Purify has been suspended, absent, and
unable to practice because of unfortunate circumstances, some of his own
making, and therefore may be behind the other receivers who have been in
BC's system for 3-4 years (Nunn, Swift, and Peterson). BC himself stated
that it takes time to learn his system. That's all I meant. I don't know
purify and have not been given access to his IQ tests to be able to make a
judgment on how smart he is. Oh, by the way, you left out "MAYBE" from my
words when you requoted them to strengthen your argument. I'm sure that was
just an oversight.

It has been a real pleasure corresponding with you. It ranks right up there
with falling off a roof which actually happened to me Monday. It was really
"stupid" I'll have to admit.

These are your words. Sounds like your calling him stupid to me.

I read my post and can't find where I said Purify is stupid. You are the
one who said it. I'd recommend you read what I write not think what I
write. Drummond wasn't "stupid" either. He had a very short attention
span. Keller can't read defenses very well; does that mean I think he is
stupidl? Do I think some people are stupid? Yes, I submit your note as
evidence.

Saying that Purify is stupid is not a criticism? Yikes!

After Gary Danielson was finished with the NFL he became a Manufacturers
Rep. We got to know him a little because he represented some of our
suppliers. I asked him why the Lions didn't use Eddie Drummond, one of the
NFL's elite return specialists who had sprinters speed, tremendous open
field running skills and great hands. He told us it was because Drummond
couldn't remember the plays. By the time he got in position on the field he
had forgotten what the play was. Maybe Purify is limited in his ability to
grasp the complicated offense that BC runs. This is not meant as a
criticism of Purify; after all, he is a JUCO transfer and has had to learn
on the job.

The boys on Unsportsmanlike Conduct have talked about that several
times this year. It seems that they have concluded the most limiting
factor in the number of touches Purify can get each game is his
inability to remember and execute multiple routes. If you notice,
he's got that square-out to the sideline, the fade to the endzone, and
a couple of across the middle routes. Now, I have absolutely no way
of verifying that, but at least I've noticed that he's gotten in the
game more in recent weeks, but all the throws to him seem to be about
the same. And we all know that throwing the same route over and over
is going to let even the dimmest corner get a jump on one of them. I
wonder if anyone (other than the coaches) chart throws to see where
Purify is getting the ball. He's a big and talented receiver (and
that one-handed catch on Saturday is proof), but I suspect its not
because they don't want to throw to him.
