[Husker] can't we just move on

As one of the author's (who is not offended), I agree that the
imperative is moving on. The question is along which path should we
move. If we don't learn from history, we may move on to discover we're
back where we started. If we're slow learners, we might not learn even
after time and time again around the tree, like Winnie the Pooh.
Some of these questions are critical to being successful. When is it
better to make patient progress and when is it better to recognize that
only a drastic change can achieve the desired success? The goal should
be to win the BCS Championship every year, but that won't happen, so
what should coaches, administrators, and even fans, when it doesn't
happen?
What if Callahan is replaced and the next coach has the same record as
Solich? How should fans regard that coach? Is that good enough? If it
isn't good enough, then is the solution to fire that coach? What should
the AD do? What should administrators do? What should fans do?

I bear no animosity toward any of the posters and I know people are passionate about this, but in all likelihood, minds are made up on this topic and no one is going to change his/her mind at this point. Can't we just move on?

> Regarding the 9-3 season, it was quite a farce. We beat about 9 BAD teams and got smoked by 3 good ones. Were we improved, yes. Were we anywhere near where we needed to be, no. Would Solich have ever been able to get us there, I don't know, but I don't think so. Once he was given the chance to rework his staff, he probably should have been given another year or two to see if it worked or put another way, "To prove it wouldn't work" like Pedey believed it wouldn't.

>
> When you fire a coach in a 9-3 season with 75% career winning record
> and who less two years earlier had the team in the BCS Championship
> game, IT'S A RISKY AND FOOLISH MISTAKE!! It would have been a mistake
> to fire Devaney; it would have been a mistake to fire Osborne; it was
> A MISTAKE to fire Solich.
