I don't mean to belabor this and won't after this but you still
haven't given anything but football reasons, not even athletic
department reasons, when evaluating the Chancellor. First and foremost
I don't base my opinion if someone is a great person or not based on the
performance of an athletic department Chancellor or not. You come
across, and maybe you don't mean to, that the Athletic Department is
foremost and prominent in Perlman's day and job description. That is
the job of the AD and not the Chancellor. The job of the Chancellor is
to hire the AD and to oversee the university as a whole. As I said I am
sure there are days that go by the Athletic Department doesn't even
enter the Chancellor's mind. No Chancellor is ever going to be fired
based on the record of the football team alone. You would have to see
other areas of the University faltering such as Academics before a
Chancellor will be fired. You don't see that at UNL. As Mr.
Reichenbach stated this is really a moot conversation because Perlman
isn't going to be fired.
