[Husker] Callahan's response to Tom's comment

I think Ganz will be fine and so would the defense if they let loose again.
The problem is that football coaches in general (not just Callahan) tend to
get more conservative when things go wrong. Every once in a while, a more
daring coach takes a chance, does something out of the box, and starts the
game in some unpredictable manner that gives his team the lead, early. Next
thing you know the whole team is thinking we can beat these guys, and the
favored team starts tightening up.
I remember when Callahan was hired the articles talked about how he was
leading the league in rushing and totally caught Pittsburg? sleeping by
throwing 40 times. Or maybe it was the other way around. Doesn't manner. The
point is the same. He never lived up to his unpredictable bravado. When he
played teams that had terrible pass defenses he insisted on establishing the
run, while he fell farther and farther behind. Also because the defensive
coach refused to acknowledge that his conservative game plan wasn't working.
Wait, am I talking strategy? Maybe not. I think he has to let Ganz pass and
pass early. If we just hand off and hit off tackle, we'll be three and out.
Also, we all figure to see a little option with Ganz, but I expect it will
be few and far between because of fear of getting hurt. And in case people
don't recall my earlier post, I think we need to blitz at least 40 percent
of the time, if not quite a bit more.
