[Husker] 15 laterals in one play?

Sorry Mike, Cal-Sanford gets credit for inventing a new genre, even if Trinity had more practice before executing it better. The Wright Brothers will always be better remembered than the designer of the concourse.

As for the Michigan-Nebraska play, aren't we all glad the TE gave up and carried the ball out of bounds rather than pitching to Manningham? One more pitch and they score and Manningham was in position to catch the pitch if the TE had looked around.

I'm just glad that people are comparing it to the Cal-Stanford play and
not the "Michigan-Nebraska" play. Both of those plays had a major thing
in common though: the Millsaps players pretty much "gave up' after the
last lateral hit the ground, which allowed the Trinity player to easily
run into the endzone. Most of the NU defense acted the same way when a
Michigan lateral was dropped/fumbled. Thankfully, there were a few
defensive players in position to force the play out of bounds.

I think we're only going to see more attempts at these plays in the
future. As hard as it is to score on a crazy schoolyard lateral play, I
think it's more likely to succeed than lobbing a hail mary from 60+
yards, especially since the offense can keep the play alive for a long
time. After all, there's really no reason to get tackled with the ball
in this situation....you have nothing to lose by blindly throwing the
ball backward.

If this stuff becomes more prevelant at the end of games, it would be
interesting to see how defensive coordinators react. I wouldn't even
know where to start.
