[Husker] Callahan's response to Tom's comment

Two possible conclusions here:
1. Callahan is preoccupied and isn't thinking well on his feet, or
2. Callahan has been told something different than what Tom O is saying publicly and has been ordered not to disclose what he has been told.

1. is the more likely
2. BC has been told that the announcement of his dismissal is imminent and he wants to remind people of TO's reputation and then send the press to TO so he has to repeat a lie after being reminded of his reputation for honesty.

I've always been bad with office politics, so I won't even conjecture.

Here is Bill's direct quote:

About the comment, Callahan said: "I'll just say this, I'm led to
believe that Tom is a man of his word. Everyone's told me his word
means quite a bit, he's a man of his word, and he's got great
integrity, so I think that you would have to address Tom on that."

Kind of a disjointed statement. He is saying what he is "led to believe" about Tom and what "everyone's told" him about Tom, not what he personally thinks of Tom. And then he drops the "you would have to address Tom on that." Why not just say the last part " I think that you would have to address Tom on that" without the lead-in? He doesn't connect the two thoughts. It feels like a slam to me.

I disagree and agree with Jon. I disagree in that I don't read this as a compliment. Backhanded if anything. I think it is an anti-compliment. (I just made that up.) I agree with Jon in that this is all much ado about nothing.

Looking forward to a new coaching staff as it seems that it would be the best thing for the program.
