The Associated Press
LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska basketball coach Doc Sadler will release sophomores Jamel White and Kyle Marks from their scholarships at the end of the academic year, he said Tuesday.

"I talked with Kyle recently, and he informed me that he wants to be closer to home," Sadler said.

As for White, "I feel like sometimes you have to make decisions about what is best for a program, and after visiting with Jamel, he and I came to a mutual agreement that it would be best if he moved on."

White, who is from Brooklyn, N.Y., played in 22 games, including 16 starts, before being suspended for the season Feb. 11 for a violation of team rules.

He had averaged 9.3 points and 2.4 assists per game.

Marks, from Riviera Beach, Fla., finished the season playing in 18 games, averaging 2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.
