I certainly didn't intend my post to be a personal attack on Todd,
whose contributions to the list I generally appreciate. And, I
don't think my post could be reasonably interpreted as a personal
attack. However, if it was interpreted as such, I apologize.
I'm tired of this thread, but I thought that he was wrong in
overstating the legal strictures wrt letting an employee go. Even
what I characterized as "CYA legal advice" isn't necessarily a bad
thing. My attorney tells me to how to CmyA (because his job is to
provide me with advice to protect me and my company). That said, I
don't always follow his advice when I think the law allows me to do
the right or best thing even if it might be safer to not do what I
think is right or best. Personally, I'd have a hard time letting
a long-time employee go without an explanation, but that's just me.
