Oh yes.......that was somewhat of a classic confrontation. Who in that debate had the doctoral degree in educational psychology??????

I appreciate your perspective, Dr. Martin. I do know there are worse candidates than Deloss Dodds for the commissioner's post. I also feel that the early "relationship" that Dr. Tom had with the Big 12 was not a pleasant memory. His objection to how Texas influenced the partial qualifier decision early on will not be forgotten by conference officials.

Yep, the inundation of the Big XII by Texans has bothered me as well.
I never understood why this was allowed to happen. I am sure $ had a lot to do with it, but I think that if history serves me correctly it was the Southwestern Conference that broke apart and not the Big Eight. I still recall the stories told by Bill Byrne about Ann Richards influence in getting Baylor into the league and the fact that Arkansas and BYU were both on the slate to join as well. If I remember him correctly from a few years back, he stated that the "Big Fourteen" was trademarked at the time. I don't know if it still is.
I guess there was never enough of a "good ole boys" network of old school Big Eight reps to offset the Texas influence.

This could be terrible for Nebraska athletics. Apparently one of the
applicants is Deloss Dodds, the Texas AD. I believe that Texas has had a
disproportionate influence on the Conference already, to Nebraska's
detriment. Dodds ascending the chair would be devastating in my opinion.
However, it could be positive if someone who could not be bullied by Texas,
was neutral, impartial, fair . . . Perhaps someone named Osborne. One can
dream.
As to why, it sounds like he is going to work TV deals for the little
eleven.
